I am broadly interested in patterns of diversity and the processes that generate, maintain, or limit these patterns. My research trajectory proceeds along two fronts. The first is the interaction between systematics, biogeography and species formation. The second is predator-mediated natural selection and the evolution of anti-predator adaptations. In general, my approach is grounded in organismal biology while pursuing a modern research agenda in evolutionary biology. Salamanders are my main study group, however, I am also currently also working on odonates.
